For my final project I really wanted to instill the feel of the 1980s, I put alot of work and effort into capturing that nostalgic sentiment that was a Reagan-era Burger King. I wanted the Design to be heavily influenced enough by Burger king, yet still have my flavor and twist to it. I tried my names from the beginning either going with Burger Guy, Wham! burger, etc. I had many idea but the idea that seemed to sound the best phonetically was “Burger Dude”, I felt it fit perfect as dude is slang that made its way into the vernacular in the late 80s early 90s.
I knew from the start that I wanted to make commercials, and just like every other project I do I come up with plans that are just out of my reach. I did the best I could with what I had and ultimately am pretty proud of what I have to show.
I designed and directed 5 1980s era “Burger Dude” Gifs that, had they of been commercials in the 1980s, I feel would fit seamlessly. It would have been fun to make one full commercial, however I feel the 5 short gifs convey the feel, aesthetic, and authenticity of a 1980s ad campaign. The distortion, color shifts, channeling and color offsets added to these gifs, as well as, the multi colored trails following the text I feel really hone in on the home television/vhs look which was the only way I thought I could accurately portray an ad campaign could look on social media in the 1980s.
After countless hours of hard work, swapping form Photoshop, After Effects, and Premier i finally
give you the Burger Dude “Alright” Burger Campaign:
